A major update in June 2021 introduced several new anti-bot features note particularly, a vote cooldown for players who first join a server which prevents them from starting a vote until after 90 seconds have passed, and the ability to see how long a player has been on a server in the vote menu did seemed to have slowed down the bot crisis. That didn't stop paid bots from continuing wreaking havoc anyway and started kicking players in groups in an attempt to sweep away legitimate players from a single Casual server. Valve have attempted to remedy this problem by making changes to the voice and text chat systems, making the hate speech and music spam much less of a problem, though at the cost of denying Free-to-Play players any communication unless they buy something. They have a painful tendency to remain for entire matches due to the losing team wanting an unfair advantage or just a plain lack of communication and understanding of who the bot actually is, especially when they change their name to that of a legitimate player. While they can easily be identified, since they almost always wear newbie-associated clothing (like the Ghostly Gibus hat and Pyrovision Goggles), and are rapidly spinning in random directions as Snipers (And occasionally Heavies). They usually have obnoxious names and spam racial slurs/insults at everyone in the regular chat, use voice chat to spam extremely loud and ear-piercing music to distract everybody, all as they kill anyone on the enemy team they come across. Whether they be a tryhard or a friendly, nobody likes aimbots that have been infesting official servers ever since the start of 2020.With their obnoxious lime-green colored cosmetics, they will endlessly focus people who have the gall to actually fight back and kill them in a game and will use the schadenfreude taunt and the lenny face bind every time they get a kill. A variant of the Scout main, where players would like to call them Scunts are seen as the absolute worst when it comes to try-harding.The stigma against W+M1, the stereotype that all Pyro mains are furries/bronies/whatever, and of course, being lumped in the same boat as F2P players via Ghostly Gibus and Pyrovision Goggles wearers. Every class main gets mocked in some form, but none have it arguably worse than Pyro mains.There are silly servers, but most of the time Friendlies would just mind their own buisness. Whilst friendly sessions do occur (and occur more frequently considering the amount of action taunts that promote inter-team activities), it's not uncommon to see some players practice their skills on Friendlies or outright targeting them. 'Friendlies' and 'Hoovies' note Heavy players who do nothing but slowly walk around holding the Sandvich or any other lunch box item and taunting (Especially eating or using the Table Tantrum taunt) tend to draw a lot of fire (and ire) from other players, mostly because their 'friendliness' is sometimes a veil for their lack of skill.There's still some lingering distaste for them, but not as much.

For a while, 'skilless' Free 2 Play players, stereotyped wearing the Gibus and Mercenary badge, especially around TF2's Über Update, where the game became free to play since 2011.Even after the other tours were also given a chance to drop the highly coveted Australium weapons on completion, players still stick to Two Cities, as the other tours tend to either be insanely hard (Gear Grinder, Mecha Engine) or require more tickets to complete (Steel Trap, Oil Spill). Machine, good luck finding a Mann Up game for a tour that isn't Operation Two Cities.
